Fat injection is a method to fill the fat tissue taken from one area to another area. It is used to reduce the depth of aging lines on the face, to plump and thicken the lips and to give a fuller appearance to weak areas of the face (cheeks, chin, etc.).
The application, performed under local or general anesthesia, begins with the extraction of the adipose tissue with the help of a thin injector. The amount depends on the amount of tissue to be injected. The extracted fat is cleaned and injected into the area to be filled. Processing time varies depending on the width of the area to be treated. It is a natural method and there is no risk of allergy.
Afterwards, there is no discomfortable pain complaint, slight swelling and bruising may occur in the injection area; edema and bruising disappear within 7-10 days.
In the first 6 months after the injection, approximately 50-70% of the injected fat is absorbed by the body; the remaining amount of oil is permanent. In order for the filled area to remain intact for years, it should be repeated several times with an interval of 3-6 months after the first application.
There is no need to take oil again in repeat sessions. Excess fats taken in the first session are frozen and stored in patient-specific tubes. During a new session, the fats in these tubes are melted and injected like a ready-made filler (like Restylane).
