Breast reduction in men (Gynecomastia) This situation has negative effects on the patient, especially psychologically.
Breast tissue develops under the influence of various hormones, especially estrogen and progesterone. In men, this development is balanced with male hormones and the effects of estrogen are blocked. Gynocomastia occurs when this balance is disturbed. In addition, it is known that various tumors, hyperthyroidism, hepatitis, cirrhosis, lung cancer, lung diseases, thyroid gland diseases, testicular diseases, drug use, steroid use to gain weight or build muscle are also known to have an effect.
Treatment in adult men is possible only with surgical operation.
Surgery: It is a simple procedure performed under general or local anesthesia, depending on the choice of the plastic surgeon or the patient. It does not require a stay in the hospital. In the operation, after the removal of excess fat from the breast area with "Liposuction", an incision of 1-2 cm is made from the nipple, and excessively enlarged breast tissue is removed. In some thin patients, liposuction is not applied, only breast tissue is removed. If necessary, the skin is also collected and the excess is removed and a drain is placed in the operation area if necessary. The process takes between 1-2 hours.
Post-operative: Corset is used within 2-3 weeks. Temporary bruises and pain, swelling, numbness in the operation area are felt. A large part of it is controlled immediately with drugs, it goes away completely on its own in time. The patient can return to his normal life within 1-2 days. Breasts do not grow back after surgery.
Removal of breast tissue has no harm or side effects. On the contrary, the formation of breast cancer, which can also be seen in men, and which progresses more malignantly than women, is prevented.
